Galerie Youn

Galerie Youn was founded in May 2013 in the heart of the up-and-coming Mile End area of Montreal. An architecturally stimulating two-floor loft with 13-foot ceilings and hardwood floors, it is divided into 4 individual and intimate levels and includes a window display/stage and office area. Galerie Youn is a charming, cozy and contemporary addition to the boulevard St. Laurent/Mile End area.

The founder and director of the gallery Juno Youn managed SPIN Gallery in Toronto, Ontario from 1999 to 2007 before moving to Montreal. But it was in 2005 that Youn first saw the space at 5226 boulevard St. Laurent (when it was Commissaires) and he knew that he’d found the home of his future gallery. Eight years later and the space is now Galerie Youn.

Galerie Youn is not only an art gallery but also an atelier that focuses on multiple editions, handmade works and small production pieces by designers, craftsmen, architects and artists and well as carefully hand-picked antiques from the industrial age of the 1900’s to 1940’s. The Galerie Youn atelier principle is to be affordable, cutting-edge, accessible and a friendly environment.

Galerie Youn focuses on building bridges between local, national and international emerging to mid-career contemporary artists. The gallery participates in international art fairs and gallery exhibitions, as well as has its own online e-commerce gallery Flying Rooster Contemporary Projects (also known as Projets contemporains Flying Rooster) www.fr-cp.com where one can find the artists who exhibit at Galerie Youn and collect their art and design objects.
Galerie Youn represents more than twenty artists from around the world and is scheduled to exhibit eight solo shows and two group shows per year.
