Founded in 1996, Studio XX is a bilingual feminist artist-run centre for the exploration, creation, diffusion and critique of technological art. It supports independent productions in media arts and promotes the multiplicity of territories, voices and creative actions of artists identifying as women, transgender or transsexual in the contemporary technological landscapes. Studio XX’s goals are to demystify, provide access, question and create. It actively participates in the development of a digital democracy that values autonomy and collaboration.
Studio XX is an artist-run centre devoted to dissemination and production support at the intersection of three key concepts that define our artistic vision: digital art, plurality of feminism, and a DIY approach, through its artist residencies, coproductions and special projects, its online electronic journal .dpi, the weekly XX Files radio show, its Wired women salons, The HTMlles Festival, commissioned artworks, professional development workshops and anytime access to its Open Source Lab.
