of the Pierre-Ayot and Louis-Comtois Awards
Montreal, November 20, 2013 – Ville de Montréal and the Contemporary Art Galleries Association (AGAC) reveal the finalists of the Pierre-Ayot Award and the Louis-Comtois Award 2013. These awards of excellence, which will be presented at the Phi Centre on December 11, 2013, recognize the outstanding work of artists who have distinguished themselves through the quality of their artistic practice. These finalists highlight the potential of Montreal artists in the field of visual arts.

An exhibition titled Sous les projecteurs gathering the six finalists will be presented at the maison de la culture Frontenac from December 4, 2013 to January 19, 2014. The opening will take place on December 4, 2013 at 5pm.
The Pierre-Ayot Award aims to promote excellence in visual arts creation by offering a $5,000 grant and a sum of $2,500 for the organization of a solo exhibition. Furthermore, the Louis-Comtois Award recognizes a mid-career artist who has distinguished himself or herself in the field of contemporary art in Montreal for the past fifteen years. The winner receives a grant of $7,500 and a sum of $2,500 for the organization of an exhibition. In addition, Ville de Montréal purchases an artwork from the winners.
